Kaspersky Lab Performs Cyber Threat Simulation Training at the ITU Cyberdrill ALERT for Arab Region

A global cybersecurity company Kaspersky Lab participated in the Fourth edition of the Cyber Drill ALERT (Applied Learning for Emergency Response Teams) for the Arab Region, organized in Tunisia on May 23-27 by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the ITU Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center (ITU-ARCC) based in the Sultanate of Oman, and the Tunisian National Agency for Information Security. Kaspersky Lab’s experts shared their expertise and delivered the Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation training aimed at simulating potential cyber-attacks in a typical corporate environment in order to help participants improve cyber defense strategies. The attendants, comprising over 70 cybersecurity experts from 16 countries of the region, including representatives of National Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) and cybersecurity focal points in government entities, showed a great degree of interest in the training.

“What was unique about the training that our team organized for IT specialists from the Arab region was that real-life scenarios were presented with elements of gamification, allowing the experience to be effective and practical in the future. We hope that it will help the participants to be prepared for cyberthreats which could put their organization’s information and financial resources at stake,” said Ashraf Abdelazim, В2В Business Development Director in the Middle East at Kaspersky Lab. “We have worked with a wide range of organizations on cybersecurity education, including, in-depth training sessions for the City of London Police. We are happy to receive positive feedback from the ITU Arab Region Cyber Drill organizers and participants once again.”

Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation allows IT security teams from corporations and governments to immerse themselves in a simulated business environment and experience a series of cyber threats, while trying to manage the fallout from such an attack. The participants have worked through a number of scenarios, based on case studies and real-life situations. It provided them with the opportunity to test and improve their know-how when it comes to responding to such attacks.

The educational program from Kaspersky Lab provides a practical view of cybersecurity and shows scenarios of managing information security within different verticals for all types of executives: business, automation, IT and information security. A training session demonstrates the new challenges and threats that are out there, typical mistakes companies make while formulating their information security policies, and achieving the most effective resistance to cyberthreats.

Kaspersky Lab’s educational portfolio is a part of Security Intelligence Services and it now comprises trainings for many vertically integrated sectors, offering customers a comprehensive Security Awareness training package.
